Camp Nou renovation sends Barça off till next two seasons

Barcelona has announced in a statement that they want to move on with their plans to play their 2023–24 season outside of Camp Nou, their customary home ground.

As Camp Nou, which can accommodate over 90,000 fans, is undergoing renovations, the Catalan giants will play their next two seasons at the Estadi Lluis Companys.

The first stage of construction for the club’s move to the Estadi Lluis Company for the coming season has reportedly been finished, the Barcelona club stated on Wednesday, April 19, according to Football Espana.

The La Liga leaders also revealed the grass has been replaced there and a new drainage system is being installed. Several facilities are also in line for improvement in the coming months.

Camp Nou which has been Barcelona’s home ground since 1957 is the stadium with the largest capacity in Spain and Europe, and the second largest in association football with a total capacity of 99,354.

Barcelona find another formula to make money

Meanwhile, Barcelona has been working for months on the sale of 24 percent of Barca Studios as they need to urgently raise €200million for their preparation of the 2023/24 season, Marca reports.

Last season the Catalan club activated a fourth lever when it raised a total of €100million after the sale of 25 percent to Orpheus Media, the company owned by Jaume Roures.

Barcelona are trying to make Lionel Messi’s return a reality but will need to present a viable financial plan to La Liga before the move can be sanctioned by the Spanish football body.

Barcelona confident of signing Lionel Messi

Earlier, it was reported that Barcelona are not just itching to sign Lionel Messi to improve their results on the pitch, but also intends to use his return to Camp Nou to boost the economic growth of the club.

The Catalan giants have been in a financial mess for a few years and had to activate up to six financial levers at the start of the season, to be able to fund the transfer of players.

Barcelona believes if they can just get Messi over the line and registered, the club would be able to increase their income by around 25 percent.
