Ansu Fati is reportedly prepared to depart from Barcelona before the imminent closure of the transfer window this week. Brighton is actively engaged in pursuing an ambitious loan agreement for the Spanish forward, according to sources confirmed by ESPN.
Meanwhile, Tottenham has engaged in discussions with Barcelona as well.
However, Tottenham is also focused on securing the signing of Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson.
At 20 years old, Fati is open to the idea of a season-long loan move to the Premier League, which would allow him to maintain his connection with Barcelona.
Despite this inclination, no definite arrangement has been reached as the transfer deadline approaches on Friday.
This development marks a significant change in Fati’s stance, as he had previously been hesitant to leave the Catalan club this summer, despite external pressures.
Notably, Barcelona, his agent Jorge Mendes, and his father Bori have all been advocating for Fati to spend a year playing elsewhere in order to gain regular playing time and experience.
While both Spurs and Chelsea were linked with Fati earlier in the week, Brighton, under the guidance of coach Roberto De Zerbi, have emerged as the leading contenders to finalise the deal as of Wednesday
