Best Foreign Player: Napoli’s Aurelio De Laurentiis lauds Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen, a forward from Nigeria, has received praise from Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis after winning Serie A’s best foreign player award.

The Super Eagles striker deservedly received the honour following a stellar campaign in which he helped Napoli to the top of the standings with 19 goals.

The Naples club has relied heavily on Osimhen as they comfortably sit atop the table with a 15-point lead.

Thanks to the Nigerian forward, De Laurentiis’ dream of leading Napoli to Serie A victory appears to be coming true.

De Laurentiis celebrated Osimhen on social media after he won the Stampa Estera award.

“Thanks to the Foreign Press. A beautiful award ceremony for Victor and high-level exchange of views,” he wrote on Twitter.

A proud De Laurentiis had earlier posted a photo of himself and the player with the inscription, Victor. Osimhen’s time in Naples could end prematurely in the summer transfer window, with several clubs including Manchester United interested in his services.

The lanky forward has not hidden his desire of playing in the English Premier League.

Victor Osimhen wins top award

Sports Brief earlier reported that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has landed a prestigious award after being named as Stampa Estera’s best foreign athlete in Italy considering his brilliant performances this term.

The Super Eagles strongman has been in superb form this term at Napoli scoring goals and has been linked with a summer move to the Premier League. Clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are reported as the two sides who are seriously looking for the signature of Osimhen and they will go into bid battle at the end of the season.

Osimhen pays tribute to Maradona Victor Osimhen has paid a touching tribute to late football icon Diego Maradona hailing the Argentine for his incredible contributions to the success of Napoli years back.

The Nigerian international claimed that what Maradona did for Napoli during his active playing days can never be overemphasized stressing that the Argentine did it alone while the present players are doing it as a team.

Osimhen added that what Maradona did for the Serie A giants cannot be forgotten stressing that there is no way the name of Napoli will be mentioned without remembering the late soccer star.
