Ayodele wins 2018 Table Tennis

Sunday Ayodele from Nigeria beat Ghana’s top seeds to win the first prize of the Homowo Open at the Hathiramani Sports Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend.

He defeated number two seed Felix Lartey at the semi-finals and took out number one seed Derek Abrefa in the grand Final.

Eva Adom Amankwaa also proved to be the girl to watch in the future, as she defeated all the top female players.

Beatrice Gyasi was unable to use her experience over the young rising star and placed second, while Cylia Baah Danso picked up the third prize, with Lynda Annor who lost form recently and warming herself into te game placing fourth.

Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, President of the Ghana Table Tennis Federation (GTTF), urged the Ghanaian players to take their training serious as the tournament has gained international status.

He said players from other African countries have developed interest in the competition and would be eyeing it each year.

Mr. Afadzinu, said Table Tennis was becoming popular again and corporate bodies like Stanbic Bank and others are now investing into the sport, so players, officials and organisers should give off their best to ensure classis shows.

He congratulated all the players and media as well as fans who watched the tournament and made the Hathiramani Sports Hall the place to be.
