Arsenal unveils statue of ex manager, Arsene Wenger

The Emirates Stadium now boasts a bronze statue commemorating former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger lifting the Premier League trophy.

Wenger, who guided the Gunners from October 1996 to May 2018, achieved three top-flight titles and a remarkable seven FA Cup victories during his tenure.

Overseeing 1,235 matches, he played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s historic unbeaten run during their 2004 league triumph.

Under Wenger’s management, Arsenal enjoyed an impressive streak of 20 consecutive seasons in the Champions League, even reaching the final in 2006, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to Barcelona.

On Friday morning, a magnificent 3.5-metre statue of the 73-year-old, skillfully crafted by the acclaimed sculptor Jim Guy, was unveiled outside the North Bank Stand.

Arsenal’s executive vice-chairman, Tim Lewis, expressed their delight in acknowledging and celebrating Arsene Wenger’s exceptional leadership and remarkable career at Arsenal Football Club.

“Arsene’s contribution to, and achievements with, the club mark him out as the club’s greatest manager.

“He treated the club and its supporters to many trophies and fantastic memories and brought a revolution in the running of the club, an unbeaten season and the move to Emirates Stadium.

“It is fitting, therefore, that as a mark of the club’s enduring respect and gratitude a magnificent statue of Arsene now stands outside Emirates Stadium.”

Wenger is set to be the guest of honour for the Emirates Cup match against Monaco on Wednesday, and he is also scheduled to visit his statue in the upcoming days.

The newly unveiled statue of Arsene Wenger now stands alongside five others, honoring the legendary figures of Tony Adams, Dennis Bergkamp, Herbert Chapman, Ken Friar, and Thierry Henry, all adorning the podium around the Emirates Stadium.
