Argentina defeated France on penalties to win the 2022 World Cup despite Mbappe’s hat-trick

For the third time, Argentina has won the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in 2022.

In today’s championship final, the South American nation squared off against France.

In a game of many goals, Argentina had a two-goal lead at halftime courtesy of goals from Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria in the 23rd and 36th minutes respectively.

While the game appeared to be going the way of the Argentines, Kylian Mbappe turned things around for the French when he converted a penalty kick in the 8th minute.

Just a minute later, the PSG poster boy scored again with a fantastic volley to restore parity for his country.

With a goal each for Messi and Mbappe in extra time, the contest ended 3-3 at the end of 120 minutes.

In the shootout, Emiliano Martinez emerged as the hero when he made a big stop to deny Kingsley Coman.

Eventually, Argentina won the shootout 4-2 to be crowned Champions of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This is the third time Argentina have been crowned champions of the world having conquered the world in 1978 and 1986.
