Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey is set to leave Turkish club Besiktas and join the Scottish giants Celtic during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Amartey joined Besiktas from Leicester City following their relegation to the Championship in the 2023/24 season.
Despite Celtic’s earlier interest in acquiring the 29-year-old defender, Amartey initially chose to move to Turkey.
After spending one season with Besiktas, Amartey has been sidelined from the starting lineup and has spent numerous matches on the bench.
Out of 37 total matches, Amartey made 18 appearances, starting in 12 of them. His last game for Besiktas was in April 2024.
Brendan Rodgers, who previously coached Amartey at Leicester City, is keen on bringing the central defender to Celtic as they prepare for the UEFA Champions League next season.
