Ghana has confirmed its participation in the highly anticipated 2024 Olympic Games 4×100 Men’s Relay event, according to an announcement by World Athletics.
The list of qualifying teams released by World Athletics includes Ghana among the four African nations set to compete. Joining Ghana from the continent are Nigeria, Liberia, and South Africa.
While Ghana’s men’s team secured qualification, the women’s team did not, with Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire representing Africa in the women’s event.
Ghana’s men’s relay team, composed of Isaac Botsio, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Ibrahim Fuseini, secured their spot by winning their heat at the World Relays in the Bahamas, recording a time of 38.29 seconds.
Amoah and Azamati were part of Ghana’s team in the 2020 Olympics 4×100 Men’s Relay Final, alongside Sean Safo-Antwi and Emmanuel Yeboah, finishing seventh.
Italy and Canada, as the top two finishers, will also participate in this year’s Olympic competition.
