Tanzanian teen awarded in London for supporting girls’ education

In London, a Tanzanian teenager, Zamana, has been honored with the Amal Clooney Women’s Empowerment Award for her remarkable work in promoting girls’ education.

The prestigious award is presented as part of the annual Prince’s Trust Awards, which celebrate the achievements of young individuals who have overcome adversity, improved their prospects, and made a positive impact in their communities.

Zamana, the recipient of the award, was acknowledged for her remarkable initiative in launching a campaign to empower and advocate for girls’ education in Tanzania.

Her efforts aim to support and encourage girls to remain enrolled in school, providing them with greater opportunities for personal growth and success. Zamana’s dedication to this cause has earned her well-deserved recognition and acclaim.

Through her “Allow Me To Study” campaign, Zamana focuses on helping schoolgirls and their parents understand the importance of completing their education.

“This award means so much to me. Every girl in my community has a dream for her future, just like girls all over the world. My dream is for more girls to stay in school,” Zamana said after receiving the award on Tuesday night in London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Following the ceremony, Zamana will later on Wednesday meet King Charles III during a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the winners’ achievements.

Founded by the King, Prince’s Trust International supports young people across 18 countries through employment, education and enterprise programmes.
