Nigerian air force destroys several illegal sites in oil-rich Rivers state

On Sunday, the Niger Delta region witnessed the Nigerian air force‘s bombing of unauthorized oil refining sites. The illegal oil refining sites in the Niger Delta area were targeted and bombed by the Nigerian air force on Sunday. The Niger Delta region saw the Nigerian air force carry out airstrikes on illegal oil refining sites on Sunday.

The police force said they had shut down many illegal websites in the state of Rivers, which has a lot of oil.

Additionally, their target was a vessel carrying a substantial amount of unrefined petroleum, heading in the direction of the sea.
Nigeria is taking strong action against people who steal oil in the Niger Delta. They are burning ships and small refineries that illegally process crude oil, but they don’t of ten use aerial bombings.

Many illegal oil refineries are found in remote areas, away from towns and cities. However, environmentalists strongly disapprove of the ongoing practice of burning these refineries.

Authorities have burned illegal ships that were previously captured by a private security company. The ships still had the crude oil on them when they were burned.

On Sunday, there were attacks that happened at the same time as defense and oils leaders were visiting Rivers state. Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, mentioned that the country is losing 400,000 barrels of crude oil everyday because of thieves.
