National chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stepped down from his position, marking his departure just five months after leading the party to a successful victory in the presidential elections.
Accompanying Senator Adamu’s resignation is the resignation of Senator Iyiola Omisore, the national secretary of the party.
Senator Adamu assumed the leadership role within the party shortly before the general elections held in February.
The party has experienced internal conflicts and power struggles within its leadership since President Bola Tinubu assumed office nearly two months ago.
The resignation of the chairman indicates a significant fracture within the party, which could potentially impact the president’s cabinet appointments and overall governance.
