Members of the Locked-up Investment Holders’ Forum will resume their picketing at the Finance Ministry today, Wednesday, June 19, due to the ministry’s failure to engage with them as previously promised.
The investors had submitted a petition to the Finance Ministry, seeking assurances that would enable the Bank of Ghana to release funds locked up in defunct finance houses.
Dr. Adu Anane Antwi, the convenor for the forum, stated that the absence of meaningful engagement with the Finance Ministry has left them with no other option but to take to the streets.
Dr. Antwi emphasised that their decision to resume picketing is a direct result of the ministry’s lack of responsiveness.
“We will be resuming our picketing this Wednesday, as the meeting that was promised by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Dr Stephen Amoah, with us after he returned from his trip on May 27, 2024, has still not come on.
“I sent the Deputy Minister a text message and a WhatsApp message last Thursday reminding him that we are still waiting for him to call us for the meeting.”
