C/R: Man drowns in river at Gomoa Ekwamkrom

The body of a 30-year-old man named Joe has been discovered in River Akora at Gomoa Ekwamkrom, located in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region. His girlfriend had accompanied him for a swim.

According to reports from Kasapa News reporter Yaw Boagyan, Joe and his girlfriend went swimming on Friday, but he did not resurface after they began swimming.

Community members were informed by the girlfriend to search for Joe, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Divers were later dispatched to find Joe, but despite their efforts, his body was not recovered until today, Monday, July 8, 2024, when a traditional priest conducted rituals and the body was found in Gomoa Brofoyedu, a neighboring community to Gomoa Ekwamkrom.

The body has been transported by local residents to the Agona Swedru Hospital Mortuary for preservation, while the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
