Students and teachers at Pokukrom Ibrahimyya Islamic Junior High School, located in the Ahafo Ano-South District of the Ashanti Region, faced a predicament when they found themselves locked out of their classrooms by a contractor.
In a video shared by UTV on March 21, 2024, it was revealed that the Chief Executive Officer of Masum Construction Limited, Abu Masum, took this action out of frustration due to the government’s alleged failure to compensate him for the construction work carried out on the classroom block.
The footage captured the contractor placing padlocks on the classroom doors, leaving the students and teachers stranded on the school premises.
Teachers were seen gathered around a table, while some students engaged in conversations during what should have been learning hours.
As of now, neither the Ghana Education Service nor the Ministry of Education has issued a statement regarding this incident.
