According to him, “Asiedu Nektiah and others should understand that we also have our rules that we work with. For now, we have taken over the party office . . . Asiedu Nketia is nobody for us; if he sees himself as an important person, we don’t. Asiedu Nketiah and some other people are running their own business with the party. We want democracy and that was why we were calling for an election but since that is not what they want, we will make sure NDC Asawase constituency boils until the right thing is done. We will make sure every week something different happens.”

Background

Supporters of Massawudu on Thursday went on rampage in the constituency, setting car tyres on fire and locking an already locked constituency office.

This was to register their displeasure over the disqualification of their candidate.

The party disqualified Mr. Mubarick from contesting the Asawase Constituency Parliamentary Primaries for the 2020 elections.

The incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Muntaka Mubarak is set to go unopposed after Massawudu was disqualified from contesting.

According to a statement issued by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, on September 3, 2019, the decision to disqualify Massawudu followed the acceptance of the report of the Committee for Settlement of Outstanding Disputes (the Doe Adjaho) Committee at a Functional Executive Committee sitting.
