The antidote for our ailing gospel industry is love – Mavis Asante

Gospel musician Mavis Asante believes the Ghanaian gospel industry is being hindered by a lack of unity and love.

Speaking at Piesie Esther’s “Made by Grace” concert, the “Don Barima” singer highlighted that fostering harmony among gospel artists is crucial to uplifting Ghanaian gospel music to an international level.

“I think the only thing we lack as gospel musicians is love. From Genesis to Revelation, the message is full of love,” she stated.

“So if we are doing the work of God without love, then we have a problem. I’m not talking about hypocritical love, but love that comes from within. With genuine love, we can push gospel music beyond what we even think,” she added.

Background

On November 3, 2024, Ghanaian gospel minister Piesie Esther held the “Made by Grace” concert at the Accra International Conference Center. The event drew a distinguished audience, including Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram.

The concert’s success was amplified by dynamic performances from artists like Kuami Eugene, Perez Musik, Team Eternity Ghana, Amy Newman, and several others.
