Renowned highlife artist Lucky Mensah, celebrated for his unforgettable contributions to Ghana’s music industry, has ventured into the world of football, a passion he has nurtured for years. After establishing his own football club, the versatile entertainer is now pursuing a coaching career to deepen his involvement in the sport.
Lucky Mensah is currently enrolled in the Ghana Football Association’s CAF License D Coaching Program at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. This initiative is aimed at equipping aspiring coaches with the technical skills needed to develop and nurture football talent.
With this training, Lucky Mensah is poised to take on a more hands-on role in shaping young players’ careers. Already actively involved as a trainer at LM Soccer Academy, he sees this opportunity as a significant step toward enhancing his ability to guide and mentor budding football stars.
“Without coaching skills, you won’t know what to do in football. I manage LM Soccer Academy, which caters to children aged 10 to 17. So I decided to pursue this training to gain the skills needed to coach them effectively,” he shared in an interview with 3Sports.
Lucky Mensah revealed that his decision to pursue a career in football coaching is deeply rooted in a lifelong passion for the sport. As a young man, he aspired to either play professionally or contribute to football as an administrator.
Looking back on his journey, Mensah acknowledged that his accomplishments in music opened doors that made it possible for him to transition into the world of football. This move, he emphasised, is not a sudden whim but a realisation of a long-held dream to make a meaningful impact in the sport.
“I’ve been a footballer before, but my goal was to stay involved in the sport, even if I didn’t become a professional player. God has blessed me through music, opening many doors and enabling me to form a team five years ago. This has always been my passion. While I still have my recording studio, my primary focus now is on football,” he added.
