The last semi-final contest of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) features St. Augustine’s College (Augusco), Wesley Girls’ High School, and Ghana National College.
With their exceptional intellectual capabilities, this contest is poised to be a thrilling highlight, and the winning school will join Mfantsipim and Keta SHTS in the grand finale.
The tension is building as the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) enters its Quarter-Finals stage.
On Friday, October 25, 2024, at the SGS Auditorium, University of Cape Coast (UCC), the competition will witness an electrifying contest featuring three powerhouse schools: Mawuli School, Wesley Girls’ High School, and St. Peter’s Senior High School (SHS).
This second contest of Day 3 in the Quarter-Finals promises to be intense, as all three schools have established themselves as formidable contenders throughout the championship.
Adisadel College, affectionately known as Adisco, has secured its third consecutive National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) championship title in the Central Region, marking a historic hat-trick performance.
In a thrilling grand finale held at the Center for National Culture auditorium, Adisadel College overcame tough competition from 2020 Regional Champions Wesley Girls High School, Ghana National College, and Apam Senior High School.
The competition started with Adisadel College making a slow start in the first round, finishing with 7 points. Wesley Girls High School and Ghana National College led the initial standings with 15 points each, while Apam Senior High School trailed with 5 points.
However, Adisadel College staged a remarkable comeback in the second round, dominating the speed race and earning 14 points.
This pushed them to the top of the leaderboard with 22 points, ahead of Wesley Girls High School and Ghana National College, who secured 17 and 12 points respectively. Apam Senior High School did not add to their initial score of 5 points.
The atmosphere grew electric as Adisadel College continued their strong performance into subsequent rounds. In the true or false session, Adisadel and Wesley Girls High School battled fiercely, both accumulating 13 points each, bringing Adisadel’s total to 35 points and Wesley Girls High School to 30 points.
As the competition intensified, Adisadel College’s zebras, as they are fondly called, maintained their momentum, demonstrating resilience and strategic prowess. Ghana National College made a notable effort in the final round, successfully solving two riddles and adding six points to their tally, bringing them to a close 34 points.
However, Adisadel College remained unfazed and determined. With strategic answers in the final riddle round, they surged ahead, securing additional points to reach a final tally of 41 points. This decisive performance solidified their status as champions for the third consecutive year, amidst jubilation and celebration from their supporters.
The victory not only affirmed Adisadel College’s dominance in the NSMQ Central Region but also underscored their legacy as defending champions. The auditorium reverberated with the school’s anthem as Adisadel College celebrated their triumph, clinching a well-deserved trophy and a prize of GH₵ 4,000.00 sponsored by GOIL PLC.
Adisadel College’s achievement has set a new benchmark in regional history, challenging rivals like Mfantsipim School and Wesley Girls High School to match their exceptional record in future competitions.
