Richard Kingson also said this about TB Joshua in 2013

In October 2013, the renowned Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Kingson made a significant revelation about the influence of the then-leader of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), TB Joshua, on his career.

Kingson disclosed that TB Joshua played a pivotal role in Ghana’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup by accurately predicting that Ghana would defeat Egypt. According to Kingson, TB Joshua foresaw his return to the Black Stars and emphasised that he would play a crucial role in securing Ghana’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup.

He added: “As usual, He (Prophet TB Joshua) calls me often; we talk and he encourages me and prophesies to me that I will play again and my people (Ghana) will come for me, so the prophecy he said about me all came to pass,” he told Oman FM.

“Before the Egypt game, he called me often to encourage me and he told me you (Ghana) would qualify and those were the words he used: you would qualify.

“He called me about three times on the day of the match; even a day before the match, which was Monday night, he called me and said, Everything is ok, everything is alright, you guys will do well.”

Richard Kingson shared the same sentiment with some Ghanaians, who claimed the 6-1 victory over the Egyptians was a miracle.

“Yes, it is a miracle. Because the day were paired with the Egyptians, the whole of Ghana started grumbling and they were afraid that these people (the Egyptians) are very strong and they will destroy our team so this scoreline is a miracle for Ghanaians and no one was expecting this; it’s a miracle,” Kingson stressed.

The BBC recently broadcast a widely-publicized investigative documentary featuring a powerful African pastor accused of subjecting his members to horrifying human rights abuses. Surprisingly, the pastor revealed in the documentary turned out to be the late globally renowned Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN).

On January 8, 2024, the BBC released a three-part series titled “DISCIPLES: The Cult of TB Joshua,” with each part averaging 50 minutes. An exclusive screening of the documentary is scheduled in Accra on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

In the videos shared by GhanaWeb, victims of Joshua’s alleged abuses narrated their harrowing experiences. Many spoke with deep pain, revealing that they were under the impression they were the only ones being abused by Joshua, unaware that it involved numerous others.

Some victims, who were close associates of Joshua, talked about his love for money, the manipulation of his disciples, and his confessed vow to retaliate for the excesses of colonialism. The documentary also highlighted Joshua’s influence in political circles, with visits to presidents and other African leaders making appearances at SCOAN.

Temitope Balogun Joshua, widely known as T.B. Joshua, was a Nigerian charismatic pastor, televangelist, and philanthropist.

Right there I had to apologise – Bright Kankam recounts his apology to Olele at Black Stars training

Ghanaian journalist Bright Kankam Boadu admitted that he had to issue an apology after making a derogatory remark about Black Stars goalkeeper Richard Kingson’s trainer.

Kankam explained that he had made the comment during the team’s training session in the USA in October.

Recognizing the disrespect in his statement, he felt compelled to apologize.

“I’ve seen people only complaining about the coach but what about those on the bench? We have to sack all of them. What is Olele (Kingston) doing? Our goalkeeper is good enough.”

He proceeded to recount the situation that had prompted his disrespectful remark during the training session.

“I said something that made me apologise. Right there, I said, ‘I’m sorry’. They were training and we went to watch them. We were very close to them. So he shoots and the goalkeeper saves, then the goalkeeper shoots for Olele to save.

“The goalkeeper saved one of Olele’s shots and Olele said, ‘No, no, move your body.’ Then I said, ‘Look at what he is doing.’ It didn’t come out well and it wasn’t right so I said, ‘I’m sorry’ and they took me out.”

During the October break, Ghana suffered defeats to Mexico and the USA, conceding a total of 6 goals in those matches.

  • It was bad and terrible to see Laryea Kingston miss 2010 World Cup – Stephen Appiah

Former Ghana captain, Stephen Appiah has revealed that the camp of the Black Stars was terrible after Laryea Kingston was dropped from the squad ahead of the 2010 World Cup.

Having missed out in 2006 due to suspension, Laryea was hoping to make the Black Stars squad for the Mundial in South Africa.

However, he was again dropped for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa by coach Milovan Rajevac despite being part of a provisional squad that camped in France ahead of the tournament.

Appiah, who was the skipper of the side at the time, has disclosed that the mood around camp was terrible after the winger’s axe.

According to him, many of the players expected Laryea to make Ghana’s World Cup squad, having played a key role in the qualifiers.

“In France 2010 when Laryea Kingston was dropped, it was very difficult because when we talk about the World Cup, Laryea Kingston was one of the players who made it possible for Ghana. In 2006 he couldn’t get a chance to go to Germany,” Appiah told JoyNews.

“In 2010 we camped in France and he was dropped, it was bad to see Laryea Kingston that evening. It was difficult because you don’t know what was going through his head that night because he did everything possible for the team to qualify.

“I went to his room with Richard Kingson his brother and it was terrible. I went to sleep thinking of Laryea Kingston, it was bad, very bad.”

Laryea was a mainstay in the Black Stars between 2002 and 2010, making 41 appearances and scoring six goals.

  • Gyan’s penalty miss against Uruguay shattered our World Cup dreams – Olele

According to Richard Kingson, a former goalie for the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan’s missed penalty against Uruguay ended their chances of winning the World Cup.

Ghana was about to participate in the 2010 World Cup semifinals in South Africa.

After Luis Suarez stopped Dominic Adiyah’s goal-bound header, the Black Stars were given a 90th-minute penalty kick that Gyan was unable to convert.

Ghana’s chances of creating history were dashed when Uruguay went on to eliminate Ghana on penalties.

However, Kingson, who was part of the squad insists that Gyan shattered their dreams, but was quick to admit that it’s part of the football.

“It was a mixed feeling, our dreams were shattered when Gyan missed from the penalty spot but most importantly we were at the center of history, missing penalty is part of the game,” he told Ignite Media.

Gyan remains the country’s all-time leading goalscorer with 51 goals. The 36-year-old has played in three World Cups in Germany, South Africa, and Brazil in 2006, 2010 and 2014 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars face Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay in Group H in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

  • Richard Kingson reveals truth behind his Turkish name

Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Richard Kingson, has finally revealed how he got the name “Faruk Gursoy” whilst playing in Turkey.

Kingson, speaking on Max TV’s Black Stars Classics – World Cup Edition, said he earned the name when he joined Galatasaray.

The shot stopper clarified that the name was actually a combination of the names of former club President Faruk Suren and his Vice, Ergun Gursoy respectively.

“When I got to Galatasaray, there was already a policy where only 3 foreign players could be fielded in a team. So the Galatasaray managment made me naturalise as a Turk and then joined the names Faruk and Gursoy; so that is how I got that name.”

Kingson admitted that the numerous stories surrounding his name change and potential repercussions were distractions but he kept his focus on just playing football.
