The Colorado Rapids have conducted an interview with Jack Wilshere, the former Arsenal midfielder and current coach of the Arsenal youth team, for their vacant head coach position, as confirmed by sources to ESPN.
The Rapids, who are owned by Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, the same group that owns Arsenal, formally sought permission from the Premier League club to engage in discussions with the 31-year-old.
Jack Wilshere retired from playing just last year but has already shown promise in his coaching career.
In his debut season, he guided Arsenal’s under-18 team to the FA Youth Cup Final.
Sources close to the situation have informed ESPN that while Wilshere is content at Arsenal, he is eager to step into a more senior management role when the right opportunity arises.
He is currently awaiting a response from the MLS club to determine if they wish to pursue their interest further.
