Accra Sports Stadium witnessed an intense showdown on Wednesday afternoon as Accra Lions clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak in the rescheduled Week 28 match of the Ghana Premier League.

Originally slated for March 27th, the fixture was rescheduled to May 1st. Before kickoff, Accra Hearts of Oak held the 12th spot in the standings with 35 points, while Accra Lions sat comfortably in 8th place with 40 points.

The game kicked off with a midfield battle, with both sides unable to break the deadlock before halftime. Following the interval, tactical adjustments were made.

Accra Hearts of Oak was forced to substitute Glid Otanga with Gideon Asante Yeboah in the 49th minute due to an injury sustained from a collision on the field.

In the 56th minute, Accra Lions seized the lead with a goal from Ibrahim Issa during a swift counterattack.

Despite Accra Hearts of Oak’s efforts to level the score, Accra Lions’ defense held firm, preserving their lead until the final whistle.

Accra Hearts of Oak will now turn their focus to their upcoming clash against Berekum Chelsea, while Accra Lions are gearing up to take on Aduana Stars in their next league encounters.
