Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly upset during a heated exchange with Jordan Henderson following Al-Nassr’s cup victory over Al-Ettifaq on Tuesday.
Both former Premier League stars, who had highly successful tenures at Manchester United and Liverpool, engaged in a verbal dispute after Al-Nassr secured a thrilling 1-0 win over Al-Ettifaq.
Sadio Mane netted the decisive goal in extra time at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh, propelling Al-Nassr into the quarterfinals of the King Cup of Champions.
After the final whistle, Ronaldo confronted Henderson, seemingly expressing his frustration with the match officials.
Ronaldo made several gestures in the midfielder’s direction and engaged in an intense face-off before making his way towards the tunnel.
Their animated conversation continued as they left the pitch.
Henderson managed to avoid a red card during the match, despite deliberately pushing Portuguese international Otavio to the ground on two occasions after Ali Hazazi had fouled the winger.
This incident triggered a heated confrontation on the field involving players from both Al-Nassr and Al-Ettifaq, but only Hazazi was shown a red card, and Henderson emerged unscathed.
This encounter marked the first time Ronaldo and Henderson had shared the same pitch since Manchester United’s home game against Liverpool on August 22, which concluded with a 2-1 victory for the home team.
Ronaldo departed Old Trafford three months later and joined Al-Nassr in the new year, while Henderson made his move to Al-Ettifaq from Liverpool in July.
Al-Nassr is set to face Al-Khaleej on Saturday, while Al-Ettifaq will host Al-Raed in the Saudi Pro League on the same day.
