Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has detailed his plan for integrating Kylian Mbappe into the squad for the upcoming season.
Ancelotti explained that Mbappe would primarily be deployed as a center forward or on the wings, based on what best suits him and the team.
He referenced Vinicius Junior, who, despite being a natural left winger, occasionally swapped positions with Rodrygo last season to fit the team’s strategy.
Ancelotti reassured that Mbappe’s position would not hinder Vinicius’ progress, addressing concerns about the potential overlap on the left wing.
In an interview with Nigerian footballer Mikel Obi, Ancelotti addressed these worries, stating, “I envision him [Mbappe] playing upfront. The attack is expansive.
The field spans 68 meters, and we need our forwards to cover this distance effectively. Vinicius can do this, as last season he predominantly played as a left winger. I believe that player mobility is key to offensive success.”
Ancelotti underscored the importance of adaptability and creativity among players, pointing out how Bellingham and Rodrygo have shown positional versatility.
He emphasized that players should be capable of shifting between different roles to maximize their impact in matches.
These remarks follow Mbappe’s signing of a five-year contract with Real Madrid, joining on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
