Veteran coach J.E Sarpong has described Francis Oti Akenteng’s reign as Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association as ‘unfunctional.’
According to the outspoken former Ebusua Dwarfs coach, Oti Akenteng was not respected at the Football Association rendering his job ineffective.
Oti Akenteng’s tenure as Technical Director of the FA came to an end last week after over a decade of holding the position.
“Oti Akenteng for all these years tried to work but he was not respected by the former FA, so his work was not clearly seen,” he told High Radio 103.1 in Bechem. “Oti too is a person that made the GFA Technical Directorate unfunctional, It wasn’t functioning,” he added.
“If you compare other Technical Directorates of Africa and even out of Africa to ours, we weren’t doing anything here. Oti was the bane of Ghana coaching.
“Because Oti was not respected it trickled down to every coach in this country. So the FA thought was Oti wasn’t good then the rest of coaches aren’t good. The former FA didn’t respect Ghanaiann coaches,” he continued.
The Ghana Football Association is searching for a new Technical Director with application opened for interested coaches.
