The Formula One team has officially confirmed that Haas will continue to have Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg as their drivers in 2024. On Thursday, Haas stated this prior to the Dutch Grand Prix and the resumption of the sport following the summer hiatus.
Both drivers did not have a contract at the end of the year, but it was expected that they would keep their job. This was because there were not many good options available.
Guenther Steiner, the leader of the team, said before that he was pleased with his group of racers and he likes having experienced ones.
“I believe we had a really good duo of drivers this season in Formula 1 and there was no need to replace them in the future,” stated the American team’s website.
‘We know Kevin very well and I’m happy that he will be back for his seventh season with Haas team. ‘ He has participated in 113 matches for our team. This shows that he is good at certain things. Additionally, his understanding and experience with our organization match up well with his strengths.
Meanwhile, Nico easily fit into the garage without any problems or celebrations, and showed that he is an important member of the team. He has almost reached 200 starts in Formula 1 and we are very happy to benefit from his experience driving. “
Magnussen started racing for Haas in 2017. He left in 2021 but surprised everyone when he came back to take the place of Nikita Mazepin, who was removed from the team.
He hasn’t performed well this year, only scoring two points in the first 12 races and ranking 18th. This is partly because his car is not fast enough.
The Danish person said that their return in 2022 was surprising, but there were many good moments. Although this season didn’t go exactly how they wanted, they were still able to score points and show promise with their team.
There are still many races left in 2023 and we have a lot of work to do to understand the VF-23 car. We can use what we learn to improve the 2024 car. I want to thank Gene Haas and Guenther Steiner for letting me continue racing in the sport I love.
Hulkenberg started racing for Haas this year instead of Mick Schumacher. This is his first time back in F1 full-time since 2019.
Even though he hasn’t been getting many points, the German driver is in 14th place in the standings. He has impressed people with his qualifying rounds and has made it to the top-10 shootout six times.
The 36-year-old said it’s good to organize things ahead of time for the next season so we can concentrate on racing and getting better.
I love being on the team and I have the same enthusiasm for it as Gene and Guenther. We are competing in a close midfield position and I am excited to continue our progress from now until 2024.
Currently, Haas is in eighth place in the team rankings with 11 points. They have the same number of points as their competitors, Williams.
