Tigres goalkeeper Nahuel Guzman has issued an apology to Monterrey counterpart Esteban Andrada following a laser incident during Sunday’s Liga MX match between the two teams.
Guzman, who was sidelined due to injury and did not participate in the city derby, was seen in several videos using a green laser pointer from the VIP section of the stands directed at Andrada, who was in goal for Monterrey during the 3-3 draw, as well as at rival defender Sergio Canales.
Interestingly, the incident occurred on International Goalkeeper Day.
Monterrey is planning to submit a formal complaint against Guzman to the Mexican FA’s disciplinary committee.
“As I already did privately and in coherence with the values of the Institution that I represent, I want to take advantage of the importance of Social Networks to publicly offer my apologies to Esteban for the event that occurred last night during first half of the Clasico Regio,” Guzman, 38, wrote in a post on X.
