Former Dansoman Liberty Professional midfielder, Latif Atta Blessing, has hinted of a possibility to naturalise for the United State of America in order to play for their national team.
Blessing, 21, who was the goal king of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League prior to his move to Sporting Kansas City in the US, reiterated his ambition to play for the “The Stars and Stripes“ of USA when he was quizzed by journalists about the rumour in Accra.
“Yes, I will consider playing for the USA national team when they approach me. I have been waiting for Black Stars call-up for sometime and it is not forthcoming. There are several players who have naturalised and are playing for other national teams, so this is not anything seriousâ€, he said.
The Los Angeles Football Club playmaker further revealed why he would grab an opportunity to play for the North American country if the offer comes up.
“Ghana does not take a keen interest in the welfare of former national stars; they abandon them after the players have sacrificed for the nation, but in USA it is the direct opposite.â€
Latif Blessing is currently embarking on an Adidas-sponsored project to build a football pitch for the youth of his hometown, Nankese, a village in the Suhum-Kraboa-Coaltar District of Ghana.
Blessing helped Los Angeles Football Club to finish third in the Western Conference of the MLS, scoring five goals out of thirty appearances.
