Kotoko hold thanksgiving service after CAF Confed Cup campaign

Management, technical team members and players of Asante Kotoko held a thanksgiving service at the Unity Church in Asokwa- Kumasi on Friday following their CAF Confederation Cup exit.

The team went to thank God after a challenging campaign in Africa, that saw them reach the group stages of the competition for the first time since 2008.

Kotoko failed to reach the quarter-finals of the competition after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Zesco United in Zambia last week.

Despite the lack of football in Ghana, the Porcupine Warriors had a 100% winning record in Kumasi but could only manage a single win on the road, against Coton Sport of Cameroon.

Meanwhile, coach C.K Akonnor’s time at the club has been under scrutiny following their elimination from Africa.

It is unclear if he will stay as coach of the club in the coming weeks but there are reports he will be facing the sack.

The team led by Dr. Kwame Kyei were, however, thankful to all stakeholders before last night thanksgiving service.
