Following Jeremy Doku’s impressive performance in Manchester City’s 5-1 victory over Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola faces a selection dilemma for the left-wing position, where Jack Grealish and Doku are vying for the spot.
Doku, who joined the team for a significantly lower fee than the former Aston Villa winger, was instrumental in City’s triumph, contributing with one goal and four assists.
Guardiola’s acknowledgment of Doku’s performance sends a clear message to Grealish.
“I want Jack angry and I want him to play well. And then Doku—be angry that he hasn’t played the past two games,” Guardiola told BBC Sport.
“This is the way to maintain the consistency at that level. We need everyone. The way Jack played at Old Trafford to give us more composure was decisive for us.”
Doku is in excellent form, having provided seven assists in his last seven matches for City, while Grealish, who is yet to score for the club in the 2023-24 campaign, has managed just one assist.
Manchester City’s upcoming fixture is against Young Boys on Tuesday, November 7, in the Champions League.
