I’m not guilty – Pogba to launch appeal to Court of Arbitration for Sport

Former Juventus and Manchester United star, Paul Pogba, has announced his intention to challenge the decision by the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping, which recently banned him from football in the wake of a doping scandal.

The positive test results were disclosed in September 2023, originating from a screening conducted during Juventus‘ clash against Udinese a month earlier.

Despite not actively participating in the Serie A fixture, Pogba was present on Juventus’ bench during the match.

In a strongly worded statement released by the player, he vehemently asserted his innocence, expressing shock and heartbreak over the decision and the potential damage it could inflict on his illustrious career.

“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect. I am sad, shocked, and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me,” Pogba declared.

The footballer, known for his dynamic style on the field, has decided to appeal the ban before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), a move that underscores his determination to clear his name and salvage his reputation. Pogba’s appeal could potentially lead to a reevaluation of the judgement, and he remains optimistic about the outcome.

“As a consequence of the decision announced today, I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport. I believe in the principles of fairness and justice, and I am confident that the truth will prevail,” he added.

The doping scandal has sent shockwaves through the football community, with fans and pundits alike expressing surprise at the allegations against Pogba.

As the legal process unfolds, the football world will be closely watching to see how Pogba’s appeal progresses and whether he can successfully clear his name in the face of these serious accusations.

See statement below:

“I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect.

I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me.

When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.

As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against.

As a consequence of the decision announced today I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
