Govt to give commission payments to GPL players – NDC manifesto spokesperson on sports

National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced a new plan to improve sports in Ghana by offering government-paid commissions to players in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

Dr. Fred Awaah, the party’s spokesperson on Sports, shared this promise during an interview with Sporty FM.

He explained that this policy is an important part of the NDC’s plans to develop sports in the country.

“We are committed, as a government, to paying commissions to Ghana Premier League players. This is not free money; it’s an investment that we expect to have a ripple effect on others,” he stated.

Additionally, Dr. Awaah highlighted the party’s ambitious plan to support the country’s elite athletes through educational opportunities.

“The NDC government will offer scholarships to athletes to attend top universities worldwide, where they can be nurtured into Olympic-level competitors,” he added.

This plan supports President Mahama’s promise to improve sports in Ghana with a new National Sports Policy.

If put into action, these policies could greatly help in developing sports in the country.
