UK-based Ghanaian boxer, Seth Gyimah, known as “Freezy Macbones,” has joined the national boxing team of Ghana, the Black Bombers, at their training camp.
Freezy Macbones arrived in Ghana on August 27 and was warmly welcomed by supporters at Kotoka International Airport. He has been selected by the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) to represent Ghana at the African Olympic Games qualifiers in Senegal in 2024.
In a statement to the press upon his arrival, Freezy Macbones expressed confidence in his chances of qualifying for the Olympics in France next year.
He acknowledged the efforts made behind the scenes and praised the leadership of the GBF, promising to contribute to their success.
“Yesterday marked a new beginning in my life. I landed back in Ghana , but this time it’s for the purpose of Qualifying for and making my country proud at the 2024 Olympic Games,” he wrote in a Twitter post.
The qualifying tournaments for both men and women will take place in Dakar, Senegal, from September 9 to 15, 2023, as the Black Bombers aim to secure automatic qualification spots.
Among the boxers called up for the training camp are Ornella Sathoud, a Ghanaian female boxer based in the United States, and Olympic bronze medalist Samuel Takyi.
