Ghana U-23 standout Ernest Nuamah did not make it to the final shortlist for the 2023 Golden Boy Award.
Despite his outstanding performance during the 2022–2023 season, the Olympique Lyon forward was nominated in the initial list but ranks 26th on the 2023 list with a rating of 74.6.
Ernest Nuamah had a remarkable debut season with FC Nordsjaelland, where he scored 15 goals and provided 4 assists in 33 games across all competitions. He became the fourth Ghanaian to be nominated for the award, joining Kudus Mohammed, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Felix Afena Gyan.
In recognition of his impressive campaign, the 19-year-old earned a call-up to the Black Stars and made his debut in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar on June 18, 2023.
The Golden Boy Award is presented to the under-21 player who has excelled the most in a top-tier European league during a specific calendar year.
The list of 20 finalists includes notable talents like Jamal Musaial, Jude Bellingham, Alejandro Balde, Xavi Simmons, and others.
Additionally, five wildcards were named, including Barcelona’s 16-year-old sensation, Lamine Yamal.
