Ghanaian coach and scout Ebenezer Sefa has joined the blame game against referees, claiming that they are to blame for ruining the game by making bad calls.
An established player scout claims that the penalty that referee Amadu Ibrahim gave Asante Kotoko in the 57th minute was what ultimately decided the MTN FA Cup Round of 16 match between Aduana Stars and Kotoko.
Sam Adams’ penalty goal on February 26, 2023, at Nana Agyemang Badu II Park decided the tightly contested match between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko.
In a post-game interview, Coach Sefah said the referees are ruining the game, claiming that the tackle by Mohammed Alhassan was insufficient to warrant a penalty.
“The referees our destroying our game; how can you take such a penalty against Kotoko? It was never a penalty,” coach Ebenezer Sefah stated during the post-match analysis.
Asante Kotoko has been eliminated from the MTN FA Cup six times since winning it in 2017.
Asante Kotoko will now have to win the Ghana Premier League to qualify for the 2023 and 2024 CAF Interclub competitions.
