Ghana’s head coach, Chris Hughton, has expressed his deep disappointment, emphasizing that nobody feels it more keenly than he does, following the Black Stars’ 4-0 loss to the United States in an international friendly.
The four-time African champions conceded all four goals within just 39 minutes at the Geodis Park in Nashville during the early hours of Wednesday.
Hughton, who had previously guided the national team to an impressive unbeaten streak of five games, has now faced consecutive defeats, first to Mexico and now to the US.
During the post-match press conference, Hughton mentioned that poor performances such as the one against the USA can often serve as a catalyst for a winning streak.
“I’ve also been involved in the game long enough to know that sometimes you go through what we regard as bad periods to come out better.
“Sometimes the bad performances like today can be something that can kickstart something else or something that makes my mind up about the system we are playing. I understand that disappointment. I can tell you, nobody is more disappointed than I am.”
