‘CHAN tournament will not take place in Cameroon in June and July’ -CAF President Ahmad

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad has revealed that the CHAN tournament will not be held in June/July as he affirmed that all CAF competitions have been postponed due to the novel Coronavirus.

Ahmad told the French newspaper Le Monde:

“It is too early to determine the date of the next edition of the CHAN, whether in 2020 or 2021.”

“The only thing that seems clear, is that the tournament will not be held in Cameroon in June and July, due to climatic conditions.”

Regarding the semi-finals and finals of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

Ahmad said:

“The semi-finals are scheduled to play early May, we will adapt according to the health situation, and if the agenda must change, we will do so.”

It is worth noting that Al Ahly SC and Zamalek SC will face Wydad Athletic and Raja Club Athletic respectively in the semi-finals of the Champions League scheduled to take place on 1 and 2 May 2020.

And in the Confederation Cup, Pyramids FC and Hassania Agadir were supposed to face Horoya AC and RS Berkane respectively on 3 May 2020.
