Black Stars players 2022 World Cup ‘dondo’ added to FIFA Museum collection

The traditional drum, known as the ‘dondo,’ used by Black Stars players during their ‘jama’ sessions at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has been added to the collections of the FIFA Museum.

According to FIFA’s announcement on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the ‘dondo’ from Ghana is among various memorabilia from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The ‘dondo’ will be showcased at the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, as part of the exhibition.

‘Jama’ is a customary ritual for the Black Stars during their training camps and tournaments.

The team often concludes their practice sessions with lively ‘jama’ sessions and also participates in morale-boosting ‘jama’ sessions before matches.

During the 2022 World Cup, Ghana competed in Group H, facing South Korea, Uruguay, and Portugal. Despite only securing one victory, the team demonstrated their spirited performances.

They suffered defeats against Uruguay and Portugal but clinched a memorable 3-2 win over South Korea.
