Raphael Dwamena, who used to play for the Black Stars, has died after collapsing on the field during a game between Egnatia Rrogozhinë and Partizani Tirana.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on an app on November 11, 2023, that the Ghanaian soccer player had a heart attack and collapsed on the field in the 23rd minute.
The team doctors quickly went to the field, but they couldn’t save his life.
Dwamena has been using a defibrillator inside his body since 2020, when his heart suddenly stopped beating.
In November 2021, he had a heart attack while playing for BW Linz in their OFB Cup game against TSV Hartberg.
Dwamena, who was playing, fell down on the side of the field in the 20th minute during the OFB Cup round of 16 against Hartberg.
The club let him go in 2022 because of problems with his heart. In January, he started playing for the Albanian team KF Egnatia.
In 9 years, he played for 9 teams, including Levante, Real Zaragoza, Red Bull Salzburg, and FC Zurich.
