Following their victory in the Copa del Rey, Florentino Perez has praised Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes, two players from Real Madrid, for their outstanding performance.
The Brazilian pair worked together to great effect, leading Real Madrid to a 2-1 win over Osasuna in the Spanish FA Cup on Saturday night.
Throughout the season, Vinicius and Rodrygo have been key players for Los Blancos, and they demonstrated their skill early on in the game by scoring the first goal in just 109 seconds.
Los Blancos took an early lead following a brilliant play down the left flank by Vini Jr, who danced along the byline past a couple of defenders before putting the ball on the plate for his compatriot, who made no mistake to prod home, Sportskeeda reports.
Lucas Torro pulled parity for Osasuna after halftime but Rodrygo, who has carved a niche for himself as the man for the big occasion, restored the lead for Carlo Ancelotti’s men slotting home from close range after Toni Kroos’ deflected effort fell kindly to him.
And speaking after the match, Perez was full of praise for his star forward and said, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter:
“Vinicius Junior is the best player in the world in his position. We should defend players who produce something special like him.
“Rodrygo is a very, very good player. And he’s still so young. He’s gonna give Madrid fans a lot of fantastic years.
This season, Vini has registered 22 goals and 21 assists, surpassing his tally of 42 goal contributions last season.
Rodrygo equals Messi’s record
Meanwhile, Rodrygo continues to etch his name in the annals of Real Madrid and Spanish football history with his latest goal-scoring heroics in the final of the Copa del Rey.
The Brazilian forward scored on either side of half-time to help Los Blancos win their first Spanish Cup title since 2014 at the expense of Osasuna on Saturday evening.
Rodrygo also became the first player since Lionel Messi to score multiple goals in the Copa del Rey final with his brace against Osasuna, according to ESPN.
Vini destroys Villarreal defenders
In a related Publication, Vinicius Junior channelled his inner Ronaldinho to score a sublime goal to continue his purple patch of form this season.
The Brazil international put in another assured performance from the left flank. However, his efforts proved futile as Real Madrid suffered a shock 3-2 defeat against Villarreal on Holy Saturday.
Despite the heartbreaking defeat, Vinicius left an indelible impression on the game with a goal akin to Ronaldinho’s stunning goal against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2005.
