Aston Villa is reportedly interested in signing former Chelsea striker Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window.
Werner, who spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge, returned to RB Leipzig in 2022 after scoring 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea.
The 27-year-old German has faced challenges securing playing time at Leipzig this season, contributing two goals in 14 appearances, with only four starts.
Villa, managed by Unai Emery, is looking to bolster its squad and is interested in Werner as a potential backup for star striker Ollie Watkins.
The club is aiming for success in both the Premier League and the Europa Conference League. The report also suggests that Villa plans to pursue a high-profile striker in the summer transfer window, with eased Financial Fair Play concerns allowing for more significant moves in the market.
As of now, Aston Villa occupies the third position in the Premier League and has advanced to the knockout phase of the Europa Conference League.
