Uruguay and Real Madrid midfielder Frederico Valverde says his side target is to leave a mark at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The biggest soccer mundial has been scheduled between November and December, with 32 countries set to battle it out for the covetous trophy in the Asian country.
The two-time World Cup winners has been housed in Group H against Ghana, Portugal and Uruguay.
Uruguay will open their account against South Korea on November 24 before taking on Portugal and Ghana on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
According to the 24-year-old, Uruguay intends to leave a mark in Qatar despite being paired in a difficult group at the mundial.
“(Uruguay coach) Diego Alonso tells us that we can be world champions and the dream is there,” he added.
“We believe that we can achieve beautiful things. We may not be able to, but our goal is to leave a mark. Anything can happen on the pitch and you have to think big”
Valverde has been in a rich vein of form for Real Madrid this season, scoring 6 La Liga goals as a midfielder.
