A Man Diesel haulage truck with registration number GN 3365-16 loaded with manganese last Thursday killed a six year-old pupil of Grace Memorial School at Bonsaso on the Tarkwa-Takoradi Highway leading to mayhem on that section of the road.
The Divisional Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) Commander of Tarkwa, Superintendent of Police Madam Victoria Yamoah, who confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency, said the accident occurred at about 1600 hours last Thursday.

She said the deceased; Theodora Ama Eshun attended school at Dompim and lived at Bonsaso, both suburbs of Tarkwa.
The MTTD Commander explained that on November 1, 2018, Theodora together with four of her colleagues after close of school boarded a vehicle from Dompim to Bonsaso. When they alighted at Bonsaso and attempted to cross the road to the other side where their homes were, the deceased was left behind and the rear mid left double tyres of the Man Diesel haulage truck run over her.
The truck, which was then driven by Emmanuel Asare, 52, drag her 30 meters away from the pedestrian crossing killing her instantly with parts of her organs scattered on the road.

Superintendent Yamoah said residents of Bonsaso became upset blocked the road and burnt used tyres to register their displeasure.
She said the demonstration lasted for several hours causing heavy vehicular traffic.
According to Superintendent Yamoah, several attempts to contact the demonstrators through their leaders at Bonsaso Number one (1) and Two (2) proved futile.
The MTTD commander said police officers were dispatched to the scene to calm the residents down but that did not yield any result.

Three officers from the SWAT Unit of the Police Force in Sekondi, later arrived to support the police officers at Bonsaso and the team pleaded with the demonstrators to clear the road but they refused, she added.
Superintendent Yamoah further stated that troops from Operation Calm Life were called in to help but before their arrival another police reinforcement team led by the Tarkwa District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Thomas Osei Ababio had convinced the rioting mob to put off the burning tyres and cleared the debris from the road.
She noted that the mutilated body of Theodora has been deposited at the Apinto Government Hospital Morgue, while the suspect driver was in police custody.
The accident vehicle, she said had also been impounded at the Bonsaso Police Station pending testing.
