Netizens roast Sports Ministry over Baba Yara Sports Stadium’s hosting of 5-day church event

Ghanaian sports fans are furious over the National Sports Authority’s (NSA) decision to rent out the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for a five-day church event, leaving the pitch unprotected and susceptible to damage.

Currently, this stadium is the only CAF-approved venue in Ghana for international matches.

The NSA’s decision has ignited widespread anger, with social media flooded with images of the pitch being trampled by event participants.

Fans deem this move irresponsible, considering the importance of maintaining the stadium’s condition for international competitions.

Concerned supporters are urging authorities to take immediate steps to protect the pitch and ensure that Ghana’s CAF license remains intact.

Potential damage to the sole approved CAF stadium could have serious repercussions for Ghanaian football, impacting the national team’s ability to host international matches.

In response to the backlash, the NSA Ashanti Region has tried to assure fans that measures are in place to restore the pitch quickly.

However, this has not alleviated the fans’ anger, as they believe the pitch should have been safeguarded from the beginning to prevent any damage.

The incident has also highlighted the need for improved sports facilities in Ghana, with many calling for stricter measures to protect current venues.
