Mr. Joseph Yammin has for the first time broken his silence on the actual role he plays in National Democratic Congress (NDC) vigilante group, the Hawks, revealing that the group officially exists in the NDC structure and will not be disbanded “today or tomorrowâ€.
This comes after President Akufo-Addo called on the leadership of the two major parties (NPP, NDC) to dialogue on disbanding their various vigilante groups. According to him, there is no plan to disband the NDC Hawks as they are officially recognized in the party.

“The Hawks is recognized taskforce in the NDC party. They perform the roles like members of the party and providing security for the partyâ€, he touted.
There were reports the NDC Hawks vigilante group was formed and financed by the former Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Yammin, in concert with others. While he has not shied away from his association with the group, he will not respond directly to the claims.
He disclosed that even though the group has its leadership, he is a leading member and is not ashamed to admit it publicly insisting he sees nothing wrong with the group and the role it plays in the party.

“I told you the other day I am not a leader of the Hawks, I am just a member and a proud one at that. The President is the Commander-In-Chief of Delta Forces, Invisible Forces, Kandahar and the rest, how can he ask us to disband our group? We are not going to disbanding the Hawks today or tomorrowâ€, he disclosed.
Mr Yammin, however, insists that members of the HAWKS are card-bearing members of the party who are duly recognized to perform functions of the party by providing security during elections to augment what is being given by the police which is woefully inadequate.
To buttress his point, he disclosed that even the leader of the group is a member of the security committee of the party and has been taking part in their meetings contrary to another school of thought they are not known to the umbrella family.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Pure Fm during a studio discussion, he enumerated a number of meetings they have been involved in with the current Regional Chairman wondering people will want to write them off as not members of the party.
