Nadowli-Kaleo NCCE reaches out over 2,500 citizens with anti-corruption message

The Nadowli-Kaleo National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has intensified its anti-corruption campaign with about 2,534 citizens from various groups receiving the message expected to change public attitude about the growing menace.

The number comprise 604 males and 779 females from faith-based organizations, economic groups, trade associations as well as 1,151 pupils comprising of 515 males and 636 females had the anti-graft message between February and March.

Mr Tambile Der Emmanuel, the Nadowli-Kaleo District Director of NCCE, said this in a statement copied to the GNA.

It urged the members of the organisations and school children to “reject, resist and report corrupt practices” of public officials to the appropriate bodies for swift action.

The statement said participants during various fora organised were encouraged to marshal forces to resist and reject corrupt actions because graft posed severe drain on national resources and undermined the speedy economic and social growth of the economy.

The public have been directed report to the Public Relations and Complaint Units of the various district assemblies and other service provider institutions so that staff of public service providers with negative tendencies could be tackled.

The district-wide campaign was part of the National Anti-Corruption Campaign aimed at sensitizing the citizenry on legal regimes on anti-corruption to deepen social accountability in service delivery.

The statement said the Legal Aid Service is an intervention by government to ensure fairness and equal treatment in the justice delivery system for access to justice by the socially and economically disadvantaged persons in society.
