Mother’s plea: Kudus to take care of bills of young boy who got injured while celebrating him

Ghanaian football sensation Mohammed Kudus has expressed his willingness to extend financial assistance to a young boy who sustained severe injuries while celebrating Kudus’ second goal against Egypt in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The distressing situation of the young boy came to light through a viral video circulating online, where the boy and his mother passionately appealed to Kudus for support in managing the financial aftermath of the injuries.

According to the boy’s mother, he had to be hospitalised at the police hospital after sustaining injuries to his hands and teeth while jubilating over Kudus’ goal.

In his debut appearance at the AFCON, Kudus left an indelible mark by scoring two goals, solidifying his reputation as a prominent figure in African football.

The West Ham star opened the scoring for Ghana in the match held on January 18, 2024, with a powerful long-range shot after skillfully manoeuvring past two Egyptian defenders.

Kudus secured his second goal of the game by expertly slotting in a precise pass from Dennis Odoi.

Despite Kudus’ stellar performance, Ghana’s journey in the tournament was short-lived, as they were eliminated in the group stage, managing only two points from three matches.

The team suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde in the tournament opener, followed by 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique in subsequent matches.

With their disappointing performance in Ivory Coast, the Ghana Football Association took decisive action by dismissing Chris Hughton from his coaching role.
