Mathew Amoah opens up on his unsuccessful stint at Dutch side Hereenven

Former Ghana forward Mathew Amoah has revealed the reason for his struggles during his time at Dutch side Hereenven.

According to the 38-year old, he did his best at the club but could not just get his game on for Hereenven.

In June 2012, Amoah signed with Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen. However, after one season in which he played no single match for the club, he was released in June 2013.

“That was disappointing, of course, it was not what I expected from it, I did my best, but did not come up with plans,” Amoah says on the website of Heerenveen. “I’ve had a good time outside football, but it’s a warm family club.”

“I got to know beautiful people, I got a lot of attention with Pele van Anholt, we regularly went out to eat together, so we ate something with chicken. Amoah came into action in a cup match against Hollandia. “If I finally had a base position, I helped kill one after another.”

“You will just see that I had to shoot three or four in that match, Amoah concludes, who switched to Heracles Almelo after a season in Heerenveen.
