Kweku Baako refutes Kennedy Agyapong’s betrayal claims

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has disclosed how a meeting with President Akufo-Addo, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and their teams ensued.

This disclosure was to debunk allegations levelled against him by the Assin Central consituency MP, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

According to reports, Kennedy Agyapong had alleged that the renowned journalist secretly recorded a meeting with the President at the Jubilee House to tarnish his (Akufo-Addo) image.

Mr Agyapong also labelled Mr Baako a hypocrite for allowing investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, to interview the President on the bribery allegations raised against him by Kwesi Nyantakyi in the Number 12 exposé. He said it was Mr Baako who instigated Anas to interview President Akufo-Addo in order to trap the president.

This meeting was prior to the premiering of ‘Number 12’; an investigative piece by ace journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

In reaction to this on Wednesday’s edition of Peace FM’s ‘kokrokoo’ programme, Kweku Baako said the meeting took place at the Nima residence of President Akufo-Addo and not the Jubilee House as Ken Agyapong claims.

“I want to put in on record loud and clear, first of all the meeting didn’t take place at the Jubilee House . . .it took place at the private residence of President Akufo-Addo at Nima,” he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.

He went further to narrate what actually happened at the meeting and also mentioned the names of all those present.

“There were ten people involved in the meeting , on the President’s side were five people; Abu Jinapor, Asenso-Boakye, Eugene Arhin, Bomti Akufo-Addo, those were the people there . . . myself, Anas and two of his video people came along and I was accompanied by a good friend of mine who is a lawyer . . . in all we were ten in the room,” he stated.

He stated that Anas even unmasked before the discussion started with the President.

“Before the recording Anas was unmasked and had about 10 to 15 minutes discussion with the President with all of us present . . . so the pre-recording stage Anas was unmasked, everybody was there, we all listened to it and watched the thing . . . with the full knowledge and consent of the President of this republic,” he added.

He told Peace FM’s ‘kokrokoo’ that after that part Anas wore his mask and interviewed the President because the documentry was going to be shown publicly.
