Nigeria’s Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has rebuffed calls for President Bola Tinubu’s resignation, dismissing them as a mere distraction.
Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s largest opposition party, recently urged President Tinubu to step down if he couldn’t address the nation’s economic woes.
Mr. Idris, speaking on Sunday, affirmed that President Tinubu will not resign and is fully capable of tackling the country’s economic challenges.
“President Tinubu remains resolute in the face of our current challenges. He will not shy away from his duties,” Mr. Idris stated in a release.
“He will bravely confront these challenges and overcome them, laying the groundwork for Nigeria’s bright future.”
Nigeria grapples with its severest economic downturn in years, marked by a plummeting local currency and widespread hardship among its populace.
