The Kenyan state prosecutor is not happy with the decision to let a famous TV presenter go free in a murder case, so they want to appeal the decision.
Jacque Maribe and her former fiancé Joseph Irungu, also known as “Jowie”, were said to have killed businesswoman Monica Kimani at her house in Nairobi in 2018.
Ms Kimani was discovered by her family tied up in a bathtub after they couldn’t get in touch with her.
Last Friday, the Kenyan High Court said Ms Maribe is not guilty, but said Irungu is guilty of the murder.
Judge Grace Nzioka from the High Court said that the prosecution did not charge Ms Maribe with the right things and there is no proof that she was at Ms Kimani’s home when she was killed.
The DPP’s office wants to appeal the decision of the High Court because they are not happy with the defendant being found not guilty.
The trial of the person who killed Ms. Kimani from South Sudan is getting a lot of attention in Kenya, even though it’s not clear why she was killed.
